Description
This charming Bear Cake uses simple round and dome pans to create a delightful 3D shape without complex carving. Perfect for birthdays, it features a rich chocolate flavor and a classic star-piped fur texture that is both impressive and easy to achieve.
Ingredients
- 1 8×3 inch round chocolate cake
- 1 8 inch dome chocolate cake
- 4 cups chocolate buttercream frosting
- Small amount of black icing
- 3 chocolate chip cookies
- Large eyeball sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare your chocolate cake batter and bake in an 8×3 inch round pan and an 8 inch dome pan; let them cool completely on a wire rack.
- Use a serrated knife to trim the tops of the cakes so they are level and have matching diameters.
- Place the round cake on a stand, frost the top, and insert five wooden dowels into the center to support a small cake board.
- Add more icing on top of the board, stack the dome cake, and apply a thin crumb coat of buttercream over the entire surface before refrigerating for 20 minutes.
- Fit a piping bag with a star tip and pipe small chocolate buttercream stars in rows starting from the bottom to cover the cake in fur.
- Press two cookies into the top for ears, use the third cookie for the snout with black icing details, and add the sprinkle eyes.
Notes
Always make sure the cakes are completely cold before you begin stacking and icing, as the weight of the dome layer needs a stable base. If you are transporting the cake, a dab of frosting on the cake board will help anchor the bottom layer securely.
