Description

A moist one-bowl chocolate cake layered with rich peanut butter frosting that hides a delightful cash surprise inside. This festive dessert is the ultimate way to celebrate birthdays and special milestones with a memorable money pull reveal.

Ingredients

  • Granulated sugar
  • All-purpose flour
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Milk
  • Boiling water
  • Vegetable oil
  • Large eggs
  • Vanilla extract
  • Smooth peanut butter
  • Unsalted butter, softened
  • Powdered sugar
  • Mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 9-inch round cake pans, lining the bottoms with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, water, oil, and vanilla extract, whisking until the batter is smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the pans and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Beat the peanut butter and softened butter until smooth, then add powdered sugar, a pinch of salt, and a splash of milk until creamy.
  7. Stack the cake layers with frosting and a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips between each.
  8. Prepare the money roll inside a plastic-wrapped cardboard tube and cut a hole in the center of the stacked cake.
  9. Insert the money tube into the hole, cover with cake scraps, and frost the exterior of the cake to hide the surprise.

Notes

To ensure the money pulls out effortlessly, use crisp bills and tape them securely together with clear tape. If the cake feels too soft to hold the tube, chill the layers for 30 minutes before cutting the center hole to provide better stability during assembly.
