Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour

Instructions
- Prepare the oven. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line cake pans with parchment paper.
- Combine dry ingredients. Whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar. Beat the softened butter and sugar on high speed for five minutes until pale and voluminous.
- Emulsify the fats. Add the vegetable oil, eggs, egg whites, and vanilla, mixing until the batter is smooth.
- Mix the batter. Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk in three additions, mixing on low speed until combined.
